Student Powered Media

Diversity in talent is a requirement for success in the world of current news media. Globe Student Media brings out the critical skills required for that success. GSM emphasizes the importance of becoming a well-rounded producer, as we engage students all realms of new media: print, radio, video, and the Internet. Read on to learn how each discipline provides a worthwhile experience for all interested students.

The Globe Newspaper

The Globe Newspaper is an on-campus newspaper printed twice weekly and reproduced in an Internet-delivered version at www.slccglobelink.com. Because we are a student-produced newspaper, every edition is created, written and published by students. Our newspaper is an independent platform for students to freely express their views on a wide range of issues.

The Globe Newspaper:

  • Encourages the participation of all students.
  • Offers an open campus forum for student issues.
  • Respects the views and opinions of all members of the community.
  • Reaches approximately 65,000 students, staff, faculty, campus and community members.

Globe Television

Another critical component of Globe Student Media is the opportunities we provide for television production. Students involved with Globe Student Media have the ability to learn valuable skills in the exciting world of broadcasting. News reporting, entertainment, video and audio production, corporate communication and marketing are just a few of the experiences waiting for you at Globe Television.

Students learn to:

  • Shoot on locations on campus and around the valley with state-of-the-art cameras.
  • Edit using the latest computer systems, editing programs and technologies.
  • Broadcast through web distribution sources.

Globe Radio

Globe Radio is an Internet-based campus radio station. Our programming is created completely by students, many of whom are getting their first start in the industry. Original programming is a vital component of our station, which enables all students to participate in its development. Streaming live on the web gives students the real-world practice needed to become future entertainment, news, and sports casting stars.
