Media Samples

Below are some brief media samples that Globe Student Media students and staff have previously developed.

News

Globe Student News is Salt Lake Community College's campus news station. GSN is just one of many examples of students learning media production skills and applying those skills in a real-world environment. Watch this GSN Study Break for a brief sample.

Documentaries

The Thayne Center for Service and Learning at Salt Lake Community College is nationally recognized for their programs thanks in part to this documentary produced in partnership with them by Globe Student Media.

The Crossroads Urban Center requested the talented students and staff of Globe Student Media to produce a documentary which illustrates their mission to assist community members in need. Click to watch this powerful production.

Concerts & Events

Enjoy the energy of this promotional piece for the SLCC Dance Concert from Fall of 2006. A DVD and this promotional video were produced by Globe Student Media crews.

Campus events are constantly available for Globe Student Media crews, like the Halloween Car Bash of 2006. The excellent destruction of this vehicle served a good cause in promoting Globe Radio while giving students great exercise in front and behind the camera.

Sports

With substantial support from the School of Arts and Communication, GSM was able to introduce students to all aspects of sports production by covering SLCC Athletics in 2008. Highlights produced in post-production were aired on local TV, and illustrate the tremendous effort by students and staff. Archives of these clips will be made available shortly.

The Rocky Mountain Rumble is one the nation's premier amateur wrestling events. Students interested in sports production were part of the crew that produced the championships for web, DVD and cable release. You can view the best matches from the Rumble in our Media Archive.

Award-Winning Media

Do you have the potential to produce award-winning media? Chad Nelsen, a Film student at Salt Lake Community College, took second place in the National Geographic Preserve our Planet PSA contest. He won $1,000 and a trip to Washington D.C. for the awards ceremony. Watch Nelsen's public service announcement which recently received national attention.
